The two-year Agriculture Industry and Technology program prepares students for careers in agronomy. Hands-on engagement is infused throughout the curriculum, and students benefit from cooperative education internships.
The 11-month program trains students in all eight instructional areas certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, an evaluation board of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). A class of 18 students begins in the fall.
In Automotive Technology, students gain the classroom and hands-on knowledge to repair automotive, mechanical, and electrical systems. Using the latest diagnostic technology, they hone their skills on training vehicles and by working with highly qualified instructors.
Students in the BSC Carpentry nine-month program learn all aspects of residential carpentry by building a single-family home in Bismarck. From blueprint reading to cabinetry, drywall and more, graduates are well versed in their trade and prepared for entry-level carpentry jobs.

Students wanting to coach athletics within a school system will benefit from the Certificate of Completion in Athletic Coaching at Bismarck State College. Introducing the basic aspects of coaching, the certificate fulfills the basic requirements addressed by the North Dakota High School Activities Association and other entities as a first step in forging a career and meeting basic certificate requirements.
The Certificate of Completion in Athletic Coaching develops and enhances coaching techniques and improves the sport experience for athletes at all levels. Students pursuing BSC's Certificate of Completion in Athletic Coaching are provided with innovative and interactive simulations, application of various academic theories, small class sizes, and personal attention and guidance.
The Certificate of Completion will allow students to gain experience in the realm of coaching sports. Students may choose from online and on-campus course-delivery options, all designed to assist in discovering the newest and best practices. This flexibility allows students to complete coursework at their convenience and on their schedule.
The Criminal Justice two-year program is comprised of professional and general education courses designed to give students a broad exposure to criminal justice theory and process. Curriculum offers a balanced approach to law enforcement and corrections and focuses on the fundamentals of the field, bypassing general college requirements for the Associate in Arts degree. Students are exposed to contemporary issues and problems, along with sound philosophical insights for understanding society and the ideals of the United States justice system.
This degree program combines system administration fundamentals with a foundation in cybersecurity concepts. Classes focus on best practices to implement, administer, and secure operating systems and computer networks.
The Data Analytics Technician program provides students with highly marketable skills in data collection, data analysis, communication, organization, time management, and problem solving. Students will develop queries for data conversion into readable, analyzable, and informational documents for employers and other end users.

This program teaches the technical engineers producing the music imagined by musicians and composers. The first of its kind in North Dakota, Digital Audio Production trains students to work in professional recording and production environments. Students learn digital audio software, as well as musical theory and the music business.
The online Electric Power Technology program is designed for current and future electric utility workers. The program provides students with a core set of skills and competencies and a broad knowledge of the industry. Students choose a specialization area: Line Construction, Metering or Substation and System Design.
Students learn about the electrical power system in North America, including basic electricity, generation, distribution and transmission, with strong emphasis on system operations. North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) continuing education hours are offered with college credit.

This one-year program provides a basic electronics background. Taught in BSC's well-equipped modern laboratory, coursework includes two semesters of digital electronics and classes in alternating current and direct current analysis, solidstate devices and active devices. On campus courses start in the fall.
The Electronics & Telecommunications Technology program provides students with a good basic electronics background with specialization in analog and digital telecommunications, copper and fiber optic media, radio communications, and digital electronics. The program is intense and directly applicable to the job market.
BSC’s Energy Service & Renewable Technician program will prepare graduates for field service technician careers in the rapidly expanding energy industry. Students will study the technical processes through theory and hands-on activities with technician and operational skills utilized in renewable generation and conventional energy facilities.
Engineering Technology prepares students for employment as engineering technicians in engineering and construction related industries. Students learn computer aided design (CAD) and Global Information Systems (GIS), industry and laboratory testing procedures, surveying techniques, structural analysis and construction management.
The Agribusiness Management option is for students who plan on pursuing a business management and/or sales related position with an agribusiness. Curriculum is designed to prepare students to be successful managers and to acquire the knowledge and ability to deal with the challenges in today's agriculture industries.
The Farm and Ranch Management option is for those who plan on managing a crop or livestock production operation. Students are trained to make sound scientific and business decisions with a thorough understanding of the latest developments in technology and agricultural production.
Designed to meet the Farm Service Agency borrower training requirements, this program offers a study of the farming business. Participants receive instruction in goal setting, planning, records/accounting and business analysis. Students must be actively engaged in farming or a beginning farmer to enroll.
BSC's GIS program offers students the opportunity to enter into one of the fastest growing careers in the U.S. Three program options give students flexibility as they learn about cartography, scale, metadata and database management.
Students in Graphic Design and Communications gain an education that allows them to put their design and multimedia skills to work in any design field. Study includes classroom and lab instruction in a Mac-equipped studio, where students learn layout, typography, print media and reproduction, Web design and digital photography.
The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program at BSC prepares students to handle the newest technology in this rapidly expanding field. Much of the program is devoted to work in the modern, well-equipped lab, where students master installation and repair procedures, use and care of basic tools and equipment, and how to operate by EPA standards and safety standards set by OSHA regulations.
The Human Services program provides training in basic helping skills and the overview of service delivery and administration needed for entry-level employment in human service agencies. At graduation students are job ready.
Students in the Information Processing Specialist program gain highly marketable skills to meet ever-changing technology in business and industry, including knowledge of the most relevant software, troubleshooting and communication. Each student engages in an internship at a local business and leadership development through Phi Beta Lambda. Both the two-year and one-year programs can be completed online.

The program combines theory and hands-on training with state-of-the-art instruments, working processes and computerized control systems. Students learn to install, test, calibrate and maintain instruments that measure, indicate and control variables such as pressure, flow, level, density, temperature, force, vibration and chemical composition.

Introducing the basic aspects of risk management and insurance, the Certificate of Completion will be a first step in forging a career in this field.
Risk and insurance touches every aspect of daily life and business. The insurance industry employs a vast number of people, and the demand for field professionals is rising. Careers in insurance involve helping individuals and businesses manage risk to protect themselves from catastrophic losses and to anticipate potential risk problems. The objective of agents and representatives in the business of risk management is to match proper insurance products to the risks and needs of their clients.

BSC's Lineworker program educates students to become skilled apprentice lineworkers. Instruction time is divided between classroom study and indoor and outdoor laboratory work. Classes are held and skills practiced at the Lineworker program campus north of Mandan.
Management is a necessary part of all business and organizational functions. Managers are leaders, deciders and facilitators. BSC's program develops background for management positions is all areas of business and industry. Curriculum includes general education and business courses, many of which may be transferred to a four-year school.
Students in BSC's Management Entrepreneurship program will obtain the skills, tools and experiences necessary to assist in the creation and management of a new business venture. The backbone of this curriculum focuses on satisfactorily completing a business plan and financial analysis. Study involves a combination of general education, business and marketing coursework.
BSC's Mass Communications program provides traditional training in the foundations of writing and reporting as well as video and audio broadcast, electronic publishing and digital content. Students gain hands-on experience through the Mystic Media channels -- The Mystician, MystiCast and The MYX.
The first of its kind regionally, the Mechanical Maintenance program prepares graduates to install, maintain and repair turbines, compressors, pumps, valves and other industrial production and processing equipment. High-demand jobs are found in the power or process industry, manufacturing, institutions such as schools and other enterprises that have complex, industrial machinery and equipment.
The mission of the BSC Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program is to provide a high quality, learning-centered education in medical laboratory theory and practice that maximizes student learning and makes students partners in their education.
Designed for current and future nuclear power employees, students gain fundamental skills and knowledge needed for many positions in the nuclear industry. Developed in collaboration with EPCE nuclear industry partners, the BSC's Nuclear Power Technology program is approved by the Nuclear Energy Institute.
Nurses are in high demand in North Dakota and throughout the United States. BSC offers several nursing options including a one-year certificate, two-year Associate in Applied Science, or Associate in Science with transfer option to a baccalaureate program -- all of which prepare students for the workforce upon completion.
Paramedic Technology, the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, and Advanced EMT course, prepare students to become entry-level Emergency Medical Services providers. The mission of the Phlebotomy Technician program at BSC is to provide a high quality, learning centered education in phlebotomy theory and practice that maximizes student learning and makes students partners in their education.

This custom-designed program is intended for employed individuals to combine elements of two to three disciplines in a meaningful and logical sequence to meet their career goals, to advance a career or to increase job responsibility.
The Certificate in Water and Wastewater Technology is designed for entry-level employment in water and wastewater treatment facilities. Students attend online training for two semesters and a brief internship or BSC hands-on lab, allowing them to enter the workforce within one year.
In this ever-changing, high-demand field, BSC's Web Page Development and Design program offers students training in Web languages, Adobe Creative Suite software, Search Engine Optimization and e-commerce development. Enrollment options include a one-year Certificate or two-year degree.
The one-year Welding program provides students with basic skills for an entry-level job or apprenticeship program. Students spend most time in BSC's modern, well-equipped lab practicing different welding techniques: oxyacetylene, gas tungsten arc, flux cored arc, shielded metal arc, and gas metal arc. In shielded metal arc welding, students develop skills needed to pass the Certified Welder test of the American Welding Society.
